Opportunities

Our Children have various opportunities throughout the year to access other learning experiences outwith the 'normal' nursery routine.  These can include organised days out e.g. a pantomime, the park, the soft play, the Science centre.  We often try to set up external organistions visiting us and offering ad hoc activities e.g. Enjoy a ball, Soccer planet, Moo music, Hartbeeps.  We try to organise initiatives that we can give something back to the community e.g. visiting the elderly, harvest parcels, litter picking.  These are only some of the things we try to do.

Heart warming partnership between pensioners and pre school.

Inspired by a documentary shown on the television earlier this year, our staff at Glenbervie Kindergarden Larbert arranged for the children to visit their local care home, Glenbervie Care Home based at Glenbervie business park in Larbert.  The visit was to see how both age groups could benefit from time together, and ten weeks on has seen bonds and friendships develop between young and old.  The experience has been very nurturing and rewarding for the children and some of the residents socialisation and motor skills have really developed.

This pilot was initially a ten week block which included songs, playing games, messy activities, teddy bears picnic, working out puzzles together and topped off with a Haloween party (where the children's parents also attended).  The children and the residents have enjoyed it so much that we have organised to start a new ten week block with another set of children.

One parent said "The haloween party at the care home was a great afternoon and it showed the great positive effect the kids and residents have on each other.  The staff work hard so the kids and residents have a great session.  A fantastic experience for our son to be involved in".
